Building Typology questions

1. Which building typology are you researching?
I am reasearching the building typology of gyms in particular boxing gyms and clubs.

2.Why are you researching this building typology?
It is a topic of much interest and there are very few gyms of high caliber design so this is a good challenge.

3.What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research i.e. museum for dance, school for digital media ...
the specialty is service to boxing students, athletes of combat arts and fitness aficionados in general.

4.What are the examples that you will be researching...list examples, location and architect (10 examples)
Gleasons Gym, Morris Park Boxing Gym, David Barton Gym, Johns Gym, High Intesnsity Sports Facility.

5.What are your goals for working with this building type?
To make this gym an icon for boxing gyms everywhere and to make a design that will last a lifetime.

6.What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building? (may evolve once more reseach is done)
On a grand scale there is the Reception/Lobby, the Equipment area, the Hygenic Services, and the Combat Arenas, etc.
On a small scale, the lobby, locker rooms, bathrooms, group training area, individual training spaces, boxing rings, and boxing drill equipment.
